Borrowing and Renewing Books

Eckles Library adheres to the Gelman Library System's borrowing privileges and loan policies. If you still have questions, please call (202) 242-6620 or stop by the Check-Out/ Reserves desk at Eckles Library.

 

Reserves

Visit the Course Reserves web page to find out how to access course reserves and about loan periods and fees. Faculty, use the Reserves Request Forms page to place materials on reserve.

 

Photocopying

Eckles' public photocopier is located on the first floor near the periodical section. Copies are 10 cents apiece. The copier currently does not accept Debit Dollars or copy cards. There is a change machine available at the Mt Vernon Campus Pub. Color copying is not available.

 

Instruction

Faculty who wish to schedule a library instruction session on the Mt Vernon Campus are invited to contact Jennifer Nutefall at jnutefal@gwu.edu or (202) 994-9863. Collections

Eckles holds a print collection of over 64,000 volumes, with strengths in political science, women's history and contemporary issues, interior design, history, and literature.

If you are interested in requesting that a book be added to the collection, please contact David Killian.

Faculty members are encouraged to meet with David to discuss their curricular needs vis-à-vis the library collection.

 

Computer Labs

Public Computers

Seven public workstations, located on the first floor of Eckles, are available for general use and are equipped with Internet access and printing capabilities. Word processing is not available from these computers. There is also one public workstation located on the second floor near the elevators.

GW Labs

There are 3 computer labs located in Eckles designated for the exclusive use of GW faculty, staff, and students. These labs require the use of a G1 account and are equipped with word processing and other special programs. Printing in both of the labs is available through the GWPrints System. Please direct questions or concerns about the labs to the Center for Academic Technologies (CATS) at (202) 994-1696 or mailto:catslabs@gwu.edu. For general concerns, a CATs lab assistant is usually located in the 24-Hour Lab.

The 1st Floor Lab is located off the reference area. It seats 20 students and has an instructor station with accompanying LCD projector (ceiling mounted). Computers in this lab are available for use except when be used for a class.

The 3rd Floor Lab is seats 20 students and has an instructor station with accompanying LCD projector (ceiling mounted). Computers in this lab are available for use except when be used for a class.

The 24-Hour Lab is located off the right-hand side of the lobby and is normally open round-the-clock (call (202) 242-6620 for holiday and intersession hours). There are six workstations.
