About the Library
Eckles Library serves the Mt Vernon Campus of George Washington University. As part of GW's Gelman Library System, Eckles shares policies, procedures, and an extensive collection of electronic resources with Gelman Library, the main research library of the university. The Gelman Library System, and therefore Eckles Library, participates in the Washington Research Libraries Consortium (WRLC), a consortium of academic libraries in the Washington DC area. Our electronic resources and library holdings are accessed through ALADIN, the research gateway of the WRLC. The libraries in the WRLC share a common online catalog, and Eckles' books and journals are listed in the catalog under GW: MT VERNON CAMPUS locations. Click here for instructions on limiting your search to Eckles' materials.
Eckles holds a print collection of over 64,000 volumes, with strengths in political science, women's history and contemporary issues, interior design, history, and literature. Our circulation collection is located on the 2nd floor of the library. A floor map of the 2nd floor is available at the Check-Out/ Reserves desk on the 1st floor. The reference desk, reference materials, and the periodicals collection are also on the 1st floor.
Eckles Library also houses the archives of the Mt Vernon Seminary and College. Access to the Archives is by appointment only. Please contact G. David Anderson, University Archivist, at (202) 994-7283 or cc1821a@gwu.edu.
