PNC-Riggs Bank Records
![]() |
Thanks to the generosity of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., Gelman Library users can trace the development of our nation and its capital through the financial records of several key figures in American history. The PNC-Riggs Bank Records, contain documents from the District of Columbia's famed Riggs Bank and its predecessors dating from the early 1800s to the 1940s. Contents include ledgers documenting the accounts of historic American figures such as Francis Scott Key and Susan B. Anthony and the financial records of several U.S. presidents of the 19th century. The collection complements Gelman Library's Washingtoniana Collection, documenting the political, economic, social, and cultural history of our nation's capital.
In addition to the collection itself, The PNC Financial Services Group is supporting the transfer, preparation, and installation of the materials. Visit our Collection Stewardship page for information about supporting the PNC-Riggs Bank Archives and other collections.
