    established in 1991 from the proceeds of the life-income fund of the late James K. Brown in memory of his wife, Hazel A. Brown, the income to support Gelman Library acquisitions

  • Obediah Bruen Brown Book Fund
    created in 1984 by Middleton Train in memory of his great, great grandfather, Obediah Bruen Brown, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Chisholm Library Book Fund
    established in 1994 from the proceeds of the life-income fund of the late Catherine Chisholm, the income to be used for the purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Bertha Lockhart Clark and William Edgar Clark Library Acquisition Fund
    established in 2002 through the proceeds of the Gift Annuity of Bertha L. Clark, the income to purchase books, periodicals, and other materials for the Gelman Library

  • Class of 2004 Gelman Library Book Fund
    established in 2004 by the senior class in honor of their graduation, the income to purchase books, collections, and electronic materials supporting undergraduate studies

  • Morris and Isidore Forman Library Fund
    created in 1989 by Forman Brothers, Inc., the income to purchase and maintain library materials and resources supporting the study and research of family-owned businesses for the Gelman Library

  • Gelman Library Fund
    created in 1980 by the Melvin and Estelle Gelman Foundation, Inc., the income to purchase books, periodicals, and other publications

  • Gladstone Library Fund
    created in 1951 by Ethel S. Gladstone, the income to purchase geology books for the Gelman Library

  • William Green Library Fund
    created in 1958 by the William Green Memorial Fund, the income to purchase books in the field of social sciences for the Gelman Library

  • James P. Grube Book Fund
    established in 1989 by Hill and Knowlton, Inc., in memory of James P. Grube, the income to purchase books in the areas of political science, journalism and communications, and international marketing for the Gelman Library

  • F. Lucille Harris Library Book Fund
    established in 1987 from the proceeds of the life-income fund of F. Lucille Harris, the income to purchase books in the humanities for the Gelman Library

  • Hensey-Troutman Library Fund
    created in 1951 by the DC Masonic Clubs and added to in 1957 by bequest of Lynn H. Troutman, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Francis M. Hoffheins Engineering Book Collection Fund
    established in 1987 by Mildred T. Hoffheins in memory of her husband, Francis M. Hoffheins, the income to purchase engineering books for the Gelman Library

  • John Horrworth Children's Literature Collection Endowment
    created in 1988 by Professor Gloria L. Horrworth, the income to purchase children's books for the Gelman Library

  • Captain Deane Childs Howard Jr., Library Fund
    created in 1943 by Colonel Deane Childs Howard in memory of Captain Deane Childs Howard, Jr., the income to purchase books in American civilization for the Gelman Library

  • Kiev Research Endowment Fund
    established in 2002 by Dr. Ari and Phyllis Kiev, the income to support individuals doing research using the I. Edward Kiev Collection of Judaica in the Gelman Library

  • Arthur Evarts Kimberly Library Book Fund
    created in 1989 by Elizabeth French and Barbara Olsen in memory of their father, Arthur Evarts Kimberly, the income to purchase library materials to strenghthen the science and technology collection of the Gelman Library

  • Elyse B. and Donald R. Lehman Library Endowment
    established in 2002 by Elyse B. Lehman, MA 1967, PhD 1970, and Donald R. Lehman, PhD 1970, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the income to provide annual income for the Gelman Library

  • Clyde J. Lindley Endowment Fund
    established in 2000 in memory of Professor Clyde J. Lindley, the income to support the Gelman Library

  • Lucius N. Littauer Judaica Book Fund
    established in 1995 by the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation, the income to acquire Judaica and Hebraica for the Gelman Library Judaica collection

  • Main Library Endowment Book Fund
    created in 1973 by William G. White, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • John Russell Mason Library Book Fund
    established in 1983 by the bequest of John Russell Mason, librarian emeritus, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Mary Anne Henderson McKay Book Fund
    established in 7989 by the bequest of Herman McKay in memory of Mary Ann Henderson McKay, the income to purchase books for the benefit of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development

  • Eugene Meyer Library Fund
    created in 1944 by Eugene Meyer, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Frank McLester Murphy Library Acquisition Fund
    established in 2000 by Lorraine E. Murphy in memory of her husband, Frank McLester Murphy, the income to support the Gelman Library

  • Albert F. Murray Book Fund
    created in 1984 by Elizabeth W. Murray, the income to support the Albert F. Murray Collection and to acquire additional related materials concerning telecommunications for the Gelman Library

  • National Endowment for the Humanities Library Fund
    created in 1996 by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, the income to be used at the direction of the university librarian to support the humanities

  • Noyes Library Fund
    established in 1947 by the bequest of Theodore W. Noyes, received in 1947, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Merle I. Protzman Library Fund
    created in 1967 by Mrs. Merle I. Protzman, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library to support the study of Romance languages

  • Sidney W. Souers Fund
    created in 1975 by Sidney W. Souers, the income to support Gelman Library acquisitions

  • Staffing, Training, and Advancement Resource (STAR) Fund
    established in 1990 by the bequest of Claude Lawrence, to create the Staffing, Training, and Advancement Resource (STAR) Fund, the income to fund continuing education, conference attendance, travel, and related activities for Gelman Library employees, at the discretion of the university librarian

  • Wilma F. Stern Memorial Library Book Fund
    established in 1977 by the bequest of Wilma F. Stern, the income to purchase books for the Gelman Library

  • Marion V. Swenson Library Acquisition Fund
    established in 1994 by Marion Swenson, the income to support the Gelman Library

  • Charles Clinton Swisher Alcove Book Fund
    created in 1941 by Dr. Charles Clinton Swisher in trust for the Historical Society of the University, the income to purchase books about Medieval history for the Swisher Alcove in the Library

  • Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Korean Collection Fund
    established in 1990 by President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, the income to purchase materials concerning Korea for the Gelman Library

  • Train Library Acquisition Fund
    established in 1995 in memory of Middleton G.C. Train by his wife, Audry Campbell Train, and his brother, Russell E. Train, the income to purchase books and periodicals for the Gelman Library

  • University Library Fund
    established in 1973 with University funds, the income to support the Gelman Library

  • Dr. Carl H. Walther Library Book Fund
    created in 1988 by Emilie W. Walther in memory of her husband, Dr. Carl H. Walther, the income to purchase engineering books for the Gelman Library

PLANNED GIFTS TO NEW ENDOWMENTS
  • Richard G. and Cynthia P. Daniels Endowment Fund
    established in 1997 by Richard G. and Cynthia P. Daniels, the proceeds will be used to establish the Richard and Cynthia Daniels Library Acquisition Fund within Gelman Library to purchase books and periodicals in general literature, the arts, history, economics, science and engineering

  • Robert R. and Jeanne Holmes Library Acquisition Fund
    established by Robert Holmes, the proceeds will support an acquisition fund for the Gelman Library

  • James C. King Library Acquisition Fund
    created by James C. King, Professor Emeritus of German, the proceeds will be used for the acquisition of books in the arts and sciences in the Gelman Library

  • Florence Nesh Library Fund
    established in 1998 by Florence Nesh, the proceeds will support the special collections of the Gelman Library

  • Gene Ann Snyder Library Acquisition Fund for the Gelman Library
    established in 1999 by Gene Ann Snyder, the proceeds will be used for acquisitions in support of the Gelman Library
