GW's Division of Information Technology Unveils New Name to Align with Customer-Focused Strategy

WASHINGTON—In an effort to form stronger and more visible connections with GW students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents, the University’s technology support operations will be housed in a newly named organization, the Division of Information Technology. The division was formerly known as Information Systems and Services (ISS).
“Our new name, Division of Information Technology, is one component of an overall strategy to make our services more customer-focused and recognizable to our stakeholders,” said David Steinour, GW chief information officer.
GW’s Division of Information Technology works with students, faculty, staff and departments across the university to provide advanced technology solutions. From internet and phone connections in offices and residence halls to software that supports admissions, online registration and other aspects of day-to-day business, the Division of Information Technology keeps GW connected.
In the heart of the nation's capital with additional programs in Virginia, The George Washington University was created by an Act of Congress in 1821. Today, GW is the largest institution of higher education in the District of Columbia. The University offers comprehensive programs of undergraduate and graduate liberal arts study, as well as degree programs in medicine, public health, law, engineering, education, business and international affairs. Each year, GW enrolls a diverse population of undergraduate, graduate and professional students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and more than 130 countries.
