GW Division of Information Technology Named to "Computerworld's" Annual List of Best Places to Work in IT
Jun 21, 2010
WASHINGTON—The George Washington University’s Division of Information Technology has been selected as one of the top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals by International Data Group's (IDG) "Computerworld." This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 17th annual "Best Places to Work in IT" survey, which was published in the June 21, 2010, issue of"Computerworld" and online at Computerworld.com.
“GW’s Division of Information Technology takes pride in creating an enriching work environment that offers our employees challenging projects, opportunities for professional development and a healthy work-life balance,” said GW Chief Information Officer David Steinour. “GW’s selection to this list of top IT organizations for three consecutive years is both an honor and a calling to expand on our past successes and to continue to make a contribution to the GW community.”
GW ranked no. 66 and was one of only five universities to make the 2010 "Best Places to Work in IT" list. "Computerworld" highlighted several special offerings that helped place GW on the list, including the University’s employee and family tuition benefits, retirement savings plan, training programs and merit-based raises.
“To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it’s not enough just to seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of "Computerworld." “The organizations that made this year’s Best Places to Work list sustain a dynamic work environment in which IT professionals keep their hands on the latest technologies and work on projects that are business critical.”
Since 1994, "Computerworld’s" annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention.
"Computerworld" is the leading source of technology news and information for IT influencers worldwide, providing peer perspective, IT leadership and business results.
The Division of Information Technology is the chief provider of technology infrastructure, services, support and applications at The George Washington University.
