Apr 13, 2010

WASHINGTON
—Edward Martin has been named The George Washington University's deputy chief information officer. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Division of Information Technology (IT). Mr. Martin brings more than 17 years of IT experience to his new role and has more than 13 years of industry leadership. He will begin his new role April 19.

“Ed Martin is a seasoned professional with a track record of developing sophisticated and innovative IT solutions for pressing business challenges,” said David Steinour, GW chief information officer. “I look forward to working with Ed to improve our division’s service offerings and to continue our role as a strategic partner with stakeholders throughout the University.”

Mr. Martin most recently served as deputy chief information office at American University, where he was responsible for leading the day-to-day IT operating environment, including customer support and related services, network operations and engineering and systems engineering services. Prior to joining American, Mr. Martin served as the vice president of IT operations for the firm, CACI International Inc. While at CACI, Mr. Martin helped to build many of the IT service delivery processes, oversaw the centralization of IT resources, led the integration of infrastructure from more than 25 acquired companies and was a key contributor to the IT internal controls environment. Mr. Martin received his bachelor’s of science degree and M.B.A. from the University of Maryland – University College.

“GW is an exciting place to be right now,” said Mr. Martin. “With expansion taking place in all areas, it is clearly an institution that is thinking carefully about its place in the future and making great strides to get there. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help shape information technology at GW.”

GW’s Division of Information Technology works with students, faculty, staff and departments across the University to provide advanced technology. From Internet and phone connection in offices and residence halls to software that supports admissions, online registration and other aspects of day-to-day business, the Division of Information Technology keeps GW connected.
