The George Washington University Mount Vernon Campus

The Mount Vernon Campus, in the Foxhall neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., provides a more traditional college campus than its Foggy Bottom counterpart while still offering students easy access to all the nation’s capital can offer.

Classic brick residence halls, academic buildings and a dining hall define the Mount Vernon Campus. The award-winning design of the Hand Chapel adds to its distinction. Recent additions to the campus include science labs, extensive athletic facilities, student activities space and a new wing on the Somers residence hall.

Courses in a wide range of disciplines take place in intimate classroom settings. Most classes have 20 students or fewer. The Mount Vernon Campus is home to the Elizabeth J. Somers Women’s Leadership Program, a yearlong residential and academic program for freshmen; the Forensics Sciences Program; and the Interior Design Program.

Other amenities include:

  • 25-acre campus
  • 24-hour transportation link to Foggy Bottom Campus
  • Six residence halls
  • 400 students living on campus, slated to increase to 687 in fall 2010
  • Sports facilities

    • NCAA regulation soccer/lacrosse field
    • Softball field
