Dr. Shaista E. Khilji
Dr. Shaista E. Khilji is Associate Professor of Human and Organizational
Learning at the George Washington University (GWU), Washington,
DC. She earned her PhD in International Management from University
of Cambridge, UK in 2000. Dr. Khilji's research interests are
focused upon exploring the impact of multinationals on local contexts,
organizations (culture, HR systems, and practices), and individuals
(behavior and outcome) and vice versa to lead to a desired performance.
Globalization, innovation, competitiveness, performance, and changing
demographics happen to be the guiding themes in her research.
She has published her work in the form of book chapters, encyclopedia
chapters and articles in scholarly journals, such as the International
Journal of Cross Cultural Management, the International Journal
of Human Resource Management, International Business Review and
the Journal of Product Innovation Management. She has also presented
findings of her research at several international conferences
including Academy of Management, Academy of International Business,
Asia Academy of Management, International Society for the Study
of Work and Values, International Federation of Scholarly Associations
of Management and the Global HR Conference. Dr. Khilji is a recognized
expert in her field, and has been invited to speak at the Women
in International Trade forums (MD, USA), Intercultural Management
Institute (Washington DC), Sprott Executive Symposium (Canada),
Indian Institute of Technology (New Delhi, India) and Women and
Politics Institute (Washington, DC). She has also been consulted
by daily newspapers, such as the Globe and Mail, and the Washington
Times, magazines like SmartCEO, and television channels such as
the Voice of America in developing higher education and business-related
stories.
Dr Khilji is an executive member of the inter-disciplinary Women
Leadership Institute at GWU. Recently, she finished her term as
the executive board member for Women in the Academy of International
Business. She has also served as the program chair for 2007 conference
of the Academy of Global Business Advancement. Dr. Khilji continues
to serve as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Product Innovation
Management, Journal of Global Business Advancement, Technovation,
Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Business Review, and Academy
of International Business and Academy of Management conferences.
In 2006, she was presented with the Best Reviewer Award at the
Academy of Management conference. She has consulted with US and
Canadian governments, other higher educational institutions (in
Canada and Cuba) and several organizations in the private and
non profit sector in Pakistan, US and Canada.
