Student Involvement
Lively student involvement is a hallmark of GW’s campus life. Our students ensure the existence of an active, engaged campus community by participating enthusiastically in student government, athletics, a Greek community, cultural organizations and many other activities. With more than 350 student organizations, GW offers something for just about every interest. Student organizations include 28 fraternities and sororities, 45 political groups, 70 cultural clubs, 75 academic-interest organizations, 27 religious groups and 37 different intramural and club sports.
The GW Student Activities Center and Mount Vernon Campus Life facilitate numerous activities sponsored by student-run groups. Each day there are literally dozens of on-campus events for students, ranging from concerts and athletics events to speakers and debates. Comedy nights have included acts like Robin Williams and Jon Stewart and well-known performers like Gym Class Heroes, Regina Spektor and Sheryl Crow are some of the nationally known performers who have appeared on campus. Students can relax in the Marvin Center Hippodrome, which offers food, billiards, flat-screen televisions, bowling lanes and a game room.
