Special Interest Programs for Entering Freshmen
At GW, freshmen who want to expand their interests or passions have the opportunity to apply for specialized programs designed to augment their traditional classroom experiences. GW offers a range of programs for students who excel in the sciences, mathematics, the arts or a variety of other areas of interest.
Many of these programs offer co-curricular experiences, residential housing options and specialized coursework. All programs are fully integrated into each student’s general curriculum and major requirements.
Elizabeth Somers Women's Leadership Program: These selective academic programs offer unique residential living and learning opportunities for first-year women on GW's Mount Vernon campus.
Scholars in Quantitative and Natural Sciences: A unique opportunity for students interested in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mathematics or statistics who wish to engage in a specialized interdisciplinary curricular experience.
Engineering and Law Program: This program meets the needs of highly qualified students interested in the BS degree in engineering and the JD degree.
Dean's Scholars in Shakespeare: The Dean's Scholars in Shakespeare Program offers a co-curricular program for those interested in the performance and study of the works of William Shakespeare.
Applicants must submit their intent for these programs by submitting the Honors, Accelerated, and Special Programs application (for those submitting the GW Application for Admission) or on the Common Application Supplement (for those submitting the Common Application).
