GW Colleges and Schools

Our academic prowess is expressed in myriad ways: in the classroom, in the laboratory, in the study group, in the studio, online, in the library, on residence hall academic program floors, in academic and honor society clubs, and in academic or departmental social gatherings. GW is a private, "top 100" research institution of higher learning in Washington, DC offering an extensive range of academic programs and courses.

GW’s 87 undergraduate majors are found within our six academic schools and colleges. While each student enrolls in one school they have the flexibility to take classes, double major, and minor across the University’s academic divisions. Students in good standing may also have the opportunity to transfer between the schools and colleges should their academic goals change. The University Bulletin provides further details about the options students may pursue.
