Information for Counselors

Welcome! As you guide your students through the admissions process we are pleased to work with you in providing the information needed to help your students make informed decisions about GW. We welcome you to contact the admissions director assigned to your area of the world should you have any questions about GW or a particular student. A link to our contact information is provided below.

Admissions Update

As we enter the fall recruitment season we hope to see many of you as we travel. This year we will be traveling throughout the United States as well as to India, Asia, Europe and Central America. Please encourage your students to take advantage of our visits! In addition we will be hosting  interview weekends throughout the United States in October and November. If you have students interested in interviewing a list of weekends and registration information is available through the GW Admissions Activity Center

Counselor Notes

  • Online transcripts: Please note that should you be able to do so, we are able to accept high school transcripts and recommendations sent electronically through the Common Application and Docufide.
  • Diversity: GW is committed to diversity in all forms. Our students come from all 50 states, over 120 countries, and over 30% are multicultural. We offer multicultural open houses in both the spring and fall to highlight this diversity. Encourage students interested in attending to contact our office. Travel assistance may be available for some programs.
  • Interviews: Although  not required for general admission we do offer evaluative interviews for interested students both on and off campus during the fall semester. Students should sign up using the GW Admissions Activity Center.
  • Visiting Campus: We invite you to visit campus whenever your schedule allows. Please contact the admissions director for your area so they can meet with you and schedule tours and information sessions.
  • Wait List: Traditionally we utilize an unranked Wait List in our freshman admissions process. If you have a student who is placed on our Wait List and has strong interest in attending GW, please encourage them to follow the instructions in their decision letter to express their interest to us. If you have questions or concerns about particular Wait Listed students please contact the admissions director for your area.
