Greetings fellow alumni— Mark your calendars for this year’s Women’s Leadership Forum, to be held April 8 on the Mount Vernon Campus. The annual forum brings together a multi-generational audience of professional women, alumnae, and students to discuss significant topics. This is the third year GW has held a women’s leadership event on the Mount Vernon Campus. In previous years, speakers and panels have addressed issues relevant to women’s professional and personal lives. Past speakers have included newswoman and author Cokie Roberts and Eleanor Clift, Newsweek contributing editor and author.
The forum this year reaches out to explore the ways that women are involved
in international and domestic social activism. Entitled Thinking Globally,
Leading Locally, the event features alumna Cynthia Wilson, S ’68,
AA ’70, former mayor of Granberry, Texas; Tu Dang, a GW graduate
and Peace Corps volunteer; and Laura Nelson, an advocate for the rights
of victims of sexual assault. Carolivia Herron, author of the well-known
children’s book Nappy Hair, has agreed to speak during
lunch.
Sincerely,
