Greetings fellow alumni— Basketball season is underway, and both the men’s and the women’s teams look great! The men’s team is playing a number of high-level games this year, with 12 of them televised, and plenty of positive publicity as the season gets started. Always strong, the women’s team is a favorite to win the Atlantic 10 and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in the program's history. Both teams won their exhibition games, and with the new scoreboard at the Smith Center, games are more electrifying than ever! In the season opener, the GW Colonials put up a tough fight against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons; immediately following, the Colonials were victorious against Morgan State, with a final score of 94-70. To date, the Colonials are 5-1, having beat out 9th ranked Michigan State and 12th ranked University of Maryland to win the BB&T Classic this past weekend. To read more, visit the Washington Post. Supporting the GW Colonials is an exciting way for alumni to stay involved with the GW community! The GWAA and the Office of Alumni Programs would like to invite you to a couple of upcoming events. On Tuesday, January 25, the GW Colonials take on Xavier, and a tailgater for alumni precedes the game. Sunday, January 30, the Colonials play Dayton, and we will host an after-party. Look for details in an upcoming Regional Roundup. The season has just begun…it’s not too late to get tickets! Visit the Colonials Tickets website at http://gwired.gwu.edu/colonialstickets to be a part of the 2004-2005 basketball season, and to support your GW Colonials. Additionally, be sure to visit Gwsports.com for complete schedules for both the men’s and women’s teams. We will not be sending out the Colonial Cable in January – keep an eye out for us in February! On behalf of The George Washington University and the George Washington Alumni Association, I would like to wish each of you and yours a joyous holiday season and a happy new year. Sincerely, |
