D-Day Remembered ... "This is Richard C. Hottelet, CBS News, Reporting," co-sponsored by The George Washington University and The Smithsonian Associates. On the 60th anniversary of the allied D-Day invasion, Hottelet - a member of the revered "Murrow Boys" - will reflect on his experience as a war correspondent during an afternoon of conversation and recordings of historic radio broadcasts. Richard C. Hottelet was 26 when he was hired by Edward R. Morrow and joined CBS News in 1944. He remained with the network for 41 years. He also worked for United Press and was the only American journalist arrested by the Nazis and held for four months until his release in a prisoner exchange. Michael Freedman, former general manager of CBS Radio Network News and a managing editor of UPI, and now a vice president and professorial lecturer in journalism at The George Washington University, will interview Hottelet. This event takes place on Sunday, June 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the GW Marvin Center. For free tickets call Matt Nehmer at 202-994-6467 or Matt Lindsay at 202-994-1423.
