VOLUNTEERS WITH GWU ALUMNI ON NEW YORK CARES DAY

The Metro-NYC GW Alumni Chapter is organizing a team of alumni, family and friends to give back to the community, while catching up with fellow GWU alumni. On Saturday, May 1st, beginning at 9:00 a.m., New York Cares will mobilize 3,500 volunteers to do some much deserved spring cleaning for the city's parks and schools. Volunteers will plant flowers and trees; remove trash from parks and beaches; refurbish benches, paths, and playgrounds; paint murals in schools and common rooms in shelters; and do so much more.

A DAY WITH FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR IN HYDE PARK

Join Professor Allida Black and fellow GW alumni on an educational day trip to Hyde Park. Allida Black, PhD, director of the Eleanor Roosevelt Papers and GW Professor of History and International Affairs, is the one of the country’s foremost experts on the Roosevelt family. She will lead this intimate trip introducing you into the world of one of the most influential first ladies.

Saturday, June 12
8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Bus departs Grand Central Station at 8:30 a.m.)
$55 per person

This day trip includes bus transportation to and from Hyde Park, a guided tour through Val-Kil, Eleanor Roosevelt’s family home, a guided tour through “Springwood”, FDR’s home and lunch at the Hyde Park Brewing Company.
