Horizons Theatre, the oldest women's theatre company in the country, presents Claudia Allen's "Unspoken Prayers" from Thursday, March 18 through Sunday, April 11 in Hand Chapel on the Mount Vernon Campus. Performance times are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors (60+) and non-GW students, and $10 for GW students, in advance via phone at (703) 578-1100 or each evening at the door. Horizons’ Artistic Director, as well as Stage Director, for “Unspoken Prayers,” is Leslie Jacobson, Chair of GW’s Department of Theatre and Dance. Set in early December 2002, the play unfolds as Billie and Frank's youngest daughter, Sara, is raped and murdered on her way home from her high school Christmas pageant rehearsal. In the months following her murder, the family has to come to terms with not only the loss of a daughter, but also their conflicting views on the issue of capital punishment. A series of post show panel discussions are to be presented in conjunction with the play so that audiences might gain further insight into issues surrounding the death penalty.
