Alumni ID Cards
GWorld 2.0. Come and Get It.
The University is pleased to announce the launch of GWorld 2.0! GWorld 2.0 enhances campus security and adds additional features to the GWorld card program. With GWorld 2.0, you'll get a new GWorld card and see new card readers being installed on our campuses and at our Colonial Cash partner establishments.
Alumni can stop by the GWorld Card Office during regular business hours to get your new card.
How do I get my new card?
It's easy! Just visit the GWorld Card Office (Marvin Center, Ground Floor, 800 21st Street, NW) to retake your photo and receive your new card. You need to bring your current GWorld card (if you have one) and a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport.
Monday – Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
FALL HOURS (beginning Saturday, August 28)
Monday – Thursday | 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Why should I get an alumni GWorld?
To gain access to campus facilities, including Gelman Library and Charles E. Smith Athletic Center, graduates are required to obtain an alumni GWorld card.
In addition, if you transition from a student GWorld to an alumni GWorld card within 35 months of your last purchase as a student any Colonial Cash balance on your student card will carry over to your alumni GWorld.
All alumni may add Colonial Cash to your GWorld, just like student, faculty and staff users. Visit http://gworld.gwu.edu/partners for a complete list of vendors who accept the GWorld card.

How much does it cost?
If you have an old alumni GWorld card (pictured at right) and bring it with you to the GWorld Card Office, there is a $10 transition fee for all GWorld alumni cards.
If you do not already have an alumni GWorld card or want to convert your student GWorld to a new alumni GWorld card you will be assessed a $10 fee by the GWorld Card office. Please remember to bring a form of photo identification to the GWorld Card Office.
How much time should I plan when I go to the GWorld office to get my new card?
It will take approximately five minutes to process your new GWorld card. We recommend visiting the GWorld office early in the day when we expect any lines to be at their shortest. Follow Facebook and Twitter for information to plan your visit.
What can I expect when I get to the GWorld Card office?
You will turn in your current GWorld card, and verify the spelling of your name. Your photo will be taken, and your new card will be printed and tested to ensure that it works properly. Your new GWorld card will have all the access rights and account balances of your current card.
What if I don't get a new GWorld?
GW will be replacing the current card readers with new GWorld 2.0 card readers on a rolling basis starting late fall 2010. After the new system is fully transitioned, you will need a new GWorld card to use Colonial Cash and to access campus facilities such as Gelman Library.
The next time you're on campus, come and get your new GWorld card!
The GWAA Membership Card has been discontinued. If you already have a GWAA Membership Card, you may continue to use it to access discounts at GW Lisner Auditorium. If you do not have an alumni card, we encourage you to obtain a Alumni GWorld Card. Your Alumni GWorld will priovide you with all the same benefits and services, as well as access to Gelman Library. See above for additional information on the Alumni GWorld Card.
