About Our New Site
You've probably noticed that we've made a few changes to
the design and content of www.gwu.edu.
We think you'll like what we've done. In fact, nearly all the
changes are the result of what we've learned from our user
communities - through listening to feedback, conducting
research on how our site is used, and soliciting comments from
students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents.
Our guiding motivation for these changes was to make our site
foremost about services. It means finding the things that help
you learn about our GW services as a first-time user or
providing current members of the GW community with the services
that assist daily GW life to be the best experience possible.
We want to make it easy for you to visit campus, learn about
our majors, apply online, find a job, buy stuff from the
Bookstore, register for classes, select housing, receive
financial aid, join a student organization, check out the
calendar of events, make an online gift to GW, find an alumni,
get email, add Colonial Cash dollars online, learn about
employee benefits, join the University Club, become involved in
the Parents' Association, or maybe even find a Health and
Wellness Center fitness class or personal trainer.
One more thing, the changes you see today are not the end of a
process, but rather the beginning of a continuing effort to
improve our Web presence. So please keep sending us your
comments and feedback.
Some of the most important changes include:
Focus on services by introducing the "INGs:" These new
categories put the GW commitment to customer service literally
front and center. Grouped into broader, easier to understand
service activity areas such as Applying, Working, Visiting,
Learning, Computing, and more, the entire University comes
together as an online community to service all of our internal
and external constituencies better. Notice that our popular
GW News, GW Facts, GW Events, and Campus Advisories sections
continue to be an important part of the main page.
New Navigation: An Online Services section: Click on
any "ing," and you'll find easy access to a variety of GW
services and transactions available online now! You can get
straight-down to the business of your education, your life at GW,
your University job, or even find a former GW classmate.
New Navigation: An Information and Links section: Click
on any "ing," and you'll see that we have prioritized in each
service areas the information and links most frequently used, and
are the important things for you to know about the GW experience.
GW Web Index: Here is another easy way to find exactly
what you're looking for.
New Interactive Campus Map: We've put interactive features
that make our campus map come to life!
Better Search: Our new search tool is more powerful and
exact!
