Step 1: Application

The George Washington University expects all applicants for non-degree status to submit their application online. The online system maintains your confidentiality through the assignment of a personal identification number. It also allows you to complete the application at your convenience.

A non-refundable application fee of $25, payable by credit card (MasterCard/ Visa), is due at the time of online application.

Applicants should apply as early as possible and before the semester begins to avoid any potential late registration fees. Questions about the online application process should be referred to:

Office of University Students

Phillips Hall, Suite 412
Washington, DC 20052

You can complete your application in one sitting. Note that it is not necessary for non-degree applicants to include references, test scores, and transcripts. You will be notified via email of your admission within two business days. At that time, you will be assigned a GW ID number or sent notice of your old ID number. You must use the GW ID number to register for classes.

School Without Walls and Center for Talented Youth students should contact their program coordinator via email.

High school applicants must contact Zakaree Harris, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions, and complete the paper version of the application.

For those unable to apply online:

  • Download the application form, pick one up in Phillips Hall 412, or ask the Office of University Students to mail you one (see contact information above).
