Rick Sullivan
Mr. Sullivan graduated from San Francisco State University in 1972 and began his career as a journalist for the San Mateo Times and San Francisco Chronicle. In 1980 Mr. Sullivan moved to Washington D.C. to become the press secretary for Rep. Bill Royer. He worked on Capitol Hill until 1981 when he moved into the public relations consulting business. From 1981 to 1983 he worked for Edelman Public Relations and then moved to A-K Associates, a California-based public affairs firm, to open the company’s Washington office. In 1985 he was recruited as a vice president and general manager to open the Washington office of Fleishman-Hillard. Over a 12 year period, Mr. Sullivan built the office to become the largest public relations operation in Washington and became a senior partner at the company.
In addition to his Washington activities, Mr. Sullivan played a lead role in Fleishman Hillard's global expansion establishing offices in Europe, Asia, Latin America and South Africa. In 1999 he was named president of international operations. He retired in 2001 after serving the company for 16 years. Since leaving Fleishman Hillard, Mr. Sullivan has established two companies, Navillus Birney Winery and Vineyards and The Sullivan Company, a real estate investment firm. In 2004 he was appointed to the advisory board the Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University in Washington D.C. From March 2007 to August 2007, Mr. Sullivan served as Strategic Director for The Graduate School of Political Management's Public Relations programs.
