PROGRAM
This program consists of two courses. The first course involves an examination of the principles of the consultant-client relationship as well as introduction to the wide array of approaches and tools available for application in different consultative scenarios. While being exposed to some theories and best practices from the consulting world, students will begin preparation for an actual consulting experience by defining the scope of their consulting task and conducting an in-depth analysis of the strategic problem at hand. The second course involves travel to Guatemala for a real-life consulting assignment in the Atitlan lake area. The course uses a group experiential learning approach, which trains students to mobilize and apply existing skills and knowledge as well as acquire and utilize new ones in an efficient manner. In their assignment students will work in close cooperation with peers from a local partner university. Graduate only; instructor’s permission required prior to registration. Prerequisites: Priority given to MBA and MTA candidates in the later stages of program completion.

TSTD 214 Consultative Processes is offered twice weekly from May 20-July 03, combined with TSTD 282 International experience in Guatemala scheduled for June 15-28. Please click here to view the syllabus.

The cost of the program is estimated at $5,621 for six credits tuition and study abroad insurance. International airfare and personal expenses are not included. The professor estimates other out-of-pocket expenses could be around $420.
