  • On March 28, 2011 the Sigur Center hosted a timely and important event, "After the Earthquake & Tsunami: Japan's Nuclear, Economic, and Political Challenges." The event was recorded through the Elliott School's Web Video Initative and can be viewed at http://media.elliott.gwu.edu/video/209

  • The Sigur Center has awarded more than $84,000 to 15 undergraduates, masters, and PhD students in summer grants. Read our press release to learn more about our 2011 summer fellows here.

  • The Sigur Center is in its Fall application period for visiting scholar applications. Applications are due October 1st. For application instructions, please go here.

  • A new Asia Report has been posted, "A Comparative Analysis of Identity and Regional Cooperation in Asia," written by Dawn Murphy, PhD Candidate, Department of Political Science, GW. This report is based on the Rising Powers Initiative's May 2010 conference in Beijing and made possible by the generous support of the MacArthur Foundation's Asia Security Initiative.

  • The Sigur Center now has a blog! It's a student-focused forum for all kinds of relevant information, including awards, jobs, fellowships, and events. Please visit us at Asia on E Street.

  • The Fellowships & Grants pages have been updated, expanded and reorganized. New categories include Undergrad fellowships, Post-graduate fellowships, and others! Check it out here.

  • The revised MA Asian Studies major field description is available for download here. This includes updated course information and which semesters courses are typically offered.

  • The revised MA International Affairs Concentration in Asia requirements and course listing is available for download here. This includes updated requirements, course information, and details about when courses are typically offered.

  • A new course sponsored by the Rising Powers Initiative, "Rising Powers: Rivals or Allies" will be offered Fall semester. This is the only time this course will be offered! Details available here.
