Biological Safety

Persons working with infectious agents or materials must be trained in the proper procedures required for safe handling of these materials. Departmental chairs should ensure that appropriate training is provided for all laboratory personnel working with infectious agents. All safety procedures should be used in conjunction with facility design, engineering features and safety equipment to ensure laboratory personnel safety.

Laboratory personnel must be informed of any special hazards and signs that are present in the work area.
