OVPR has a GW subscription to COS (formerly known as Community of Science). OVPR encourages all schools and departments to use COS. For assistance, please contact the OVPR at 202-994-6255. COS maintains searchable funding opportunity databases and other services concerned with basic and applied research and scholarship. COS services include:

• COS Funding Opportunities - detailed information on 23,000+ programs
• COS Expertise - first-person profiles of researchers at 1,600+ universities
• COS Workbench - a customized Web "work space" based on user profiles
• COS Career Center - job postings, career resources, and recruiting centers
• COS Funding Alert - delivers more than 1.2 million targeted funding matches via e-mail to scientists and scholars weekly
• COS Abstract Management System (AMS) - allows professional societies to author, peer review and publish conference papers and abstracts
• Links to bibliographic databases (e.g., MEDLINE, GeoRef, US Patents), to information on federally funded research, and to Commerce Business Daily and the Federal Register
