PRAXIS I™Students must take and pass PRAXIS I™, a test of basic reading, writing, and math skills prior to completing the program. Because GWU is accredited in the District of Columbia, students must meet the passing scores for DC (no composite scores are accepted). The cut-off scores for DC can be found at the Educational Testing Service Website www.ets.org. The George Washington University does not accept SAT scores in lieu of PRAXIS I™. PRAXIS II™PRAXIS II™ is a test of content knowledge and requires some preparation. We recommend that students take PRAXIS II™ during the semester they are taking their content area methods class. Because GWU is accredited in DC, student must take and pass the PRAXIS II™ tests required by the District. If students want to teach in Virginia they must pass the PRAXIS II™ tests based on Virginia’s cut-off scores and take any additional tests that Virginia requires. |
