Content Area Preparation Forms

Students are expected to enter the QUEST partnership with undergraduate degrees in the content areas in which the wish to teach. This information is verified when applicants complete the Content Area Preparation Forms available on this website.

Content area faculty carefully admit and advise students based on state/local expectations regarding both content area and professional coursework and experiences. Students must take any missing content coursework on the undergraduate level for each area in which they wish to be licensed to teach:

  • Art
  • English
  • English as a second language
  • Foreign language (including American Sign Language)
  • Mathematics (including computer science)
  • Science (biology, chemistry, and/or physics)
  • Social studies

Students may begin the QUEST Program missing up to 3 courses in their content area, but will be expected to complete those courses prior to being eligible for licensure.

Since there is no equivalent undergraduate degree in ESL, there are fewer content area requirements, but additional licensure courses.

How to Use the Forms

Download the relevant content area form(s) on the top right hand side of this page. Fill out the form by using your transcripts and reviewing the state requirements.

NOTE: GW prepares teachers for DC, MD, and VA licensure. Students who complete our program are eligible for a DC teaching license. VA and MD have reciprocity with DC.
