GW GEARS UP FOR STUDENT MOVE-IN
WASHINGTON – Move-in day for The George Washington University’s Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses kicks off August 29 to September 2, in preparations for the first day of classes, Tuesday, September 3. As in years past, GW continues to work to ensure a smooth move-in process.
“We’ve been holding move-in events for a long time and it’s become a science,” said Andrew Sonn, director of Housing Services at GW. “We stagger the times that students are scheduled to move into their residence halls to avoid log jams and work closely with University Police to maintain traffic flow. We expect that this year’s move-in event will be a huge success.”
During move-in, GW expects a
significant increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which may disrupt the
usual flow of traffic. Residents of
the Foggy Bottom community and GW faculty and staff should prepare for increased
traffic congestion on and around GW’s Foggy Bottom campus, especially on August
29 and August 30. Parking also will be limited on these dates. University Police
will close F Street between 19th and 20th Streets. GW
urges staff and faculty to consider taking public transportation between August
29 and September 3. Arriving and
leaving early and approaching campus from the north will also be beneficial to
staff and faculty.
