Welcome to AMSA at The George Washington University School of Medicine
AMSA-GW is comprised of eight different groups: Coaching Adolescents Towards Careers in Health (CATCH), Child Abuse Prevention Project (CAPP), Cancer Outreach Relief Effort (CORE), Holistic Medicine, Legislative Affairs (LA), Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual People in Medicine (LGBPM), Students Teaching AIDS to Students (STATS), and our new groups, Head Start and International Health.
The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is the nation's largest and oldest independent organization of medical students. AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training. With a membership of nearly 30,000 medical students, pre-medical students, interns and residents from a cross the country, AMSA continues its commitment to improving medical training and the nation's health.
Mission Statement: The American Medical Student Association is committed to improving health care and healthcare delivery to all people; promoting active improvement in medical education; involving its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assisting in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; contributing to the welfare of medical student, interns, residents and post-MD/DO trainees; and advancing the profession of medicine.
