Frequently Asked Questions
Is there membership in IEA?
-
No, yes, I mean no. There is no formal
membership in IEA, such as dues. But, we do encourage additional
involvement and opinions from all students interested in International
Education. Thus, IEA invites students not only to the formal
events, but to the planning meetings as well.
What is the purpose of IEA?
-
To enhance and supplement our education, formally
and informally, while in the International Education program.
-
To build personal relationships that will last
beyond graduate study at GW.
-
To provide an
outlet for students to work
together to improve the International Education program at GW
Why should I participate in IEA?
-
Involvement in extra-curricular activities
enhances the experience of school, giving the student a well-rounded
experience in college.
-
IEA consists of students interested and
passionate about similar issues. Therefore, IEA can be an informal
arena of discourse in the field of study as you work through the issues.
-
Many students in International Education move to Washington, and thus
have a small social network on arrival. IEA is a great way to meet
fellow students outside the classroom. We often talk of moving to
remote countries to build civil societies in the developing world.
Yet, we may overlook a chance to participate in civil society in our own
backyard.
