Our schedule is made up of a collection of Division II and III ACHA teams from up and down the East Coast. Our team is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students that came from playing prep school, junior A and B, high school, and tier I hockey. The team would like to thank our parents, volunteer coaches, Fort DuPont Ice Arena, Ballston Ice Arena, GW Rec Sports, and the Student Association for their support.

Colonials 3-0 in January, Fall to 0-2 in February
GW started the new semester the way they ended the last one - on a winning streak. With victories over Catholic University, Penn State Deleware County, and Virgina Commonwealth University the Colonials were flying high. However, February would not be so kind as already the Colonials are 0-2 with lossed to Loyola College and Penn State Delco this past weekend. GW was missing a number of influential players this weekend and will be fully stacked and ready for the CCHC playoffs on Feb 22-23rd at Fort Dupont.

Colonials Finish Semester 6W-5L with 5-4 win over Loyola College
GW bounced back from losses to California University of Pennsylvania and Robert Morris University to find a way to beat Loyola college 5-4. This was a key win as it is both an old rivalry and a league game in the CCHC. The Colonials were led by Ryan Stewart who had two Power Play goals from the point and another amazing performance by goalie Bill Weiderseim who saved over 40 shots. GW will open the second semester against Catholic University of America on January 18th.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The GW Colonials will be selling programs at the Washington Capitals game on January 15th, so if you are going to the game, make sure to buy a program and support the team.

Colonials go 3-0 at Charlotte Shootout
In their first tournament of the year, the Colonials put an undefeated weekend, defeating deep-south contenders ECU, Georgia Tech, and Appalachia State University. On Friday, after falling to a 4-1 defecit, George Washington scored 5 goals in the third period to tie the game at 6-6, the tying marker coming from forward Colin Gilmartin with approximately thirty seconds to go. A five-minute overtime produced no goals and so it would be a lone goal from forward Jon Moynihan that would win GW the game in a shootout 7-6. On Saturday, the game was tied 1-1 through most of the match until defenceman David Baratta put in a shot from the point late in the third period. GW would score two more goals to win 4-1. Finally, on Sunday, the Colonials scored early and often to win the game 9-1 over Appalacia State University. Weekend Warrior awards were given to both GW goaltenders Bill Wiedersheim and Dan Pollock for their amazing performances. Wiedersheim posted a shutout in the shootout against ECU and Pollock let up only two goals in five periods of play.

Colonials Split First Two Games of the Year
In their first game of the year, GW defeated former MDCHA rival Gettysburg 4-3. After gaining a 3-0 lead GW gave up a goal and then got it right back. Gettysburg then pressed hard scoring two more before the end of the game, but it wasn't even to steal the victory away from George Washington. Freshman goalie Bill Wiedersheim stopped 47 of 50 shots to earn game honors. The following week, GW lost 6-4 to perennial rivals and now league rival Richmond University. After gaining a quick 1-0 lead, GW gave up 2 to fall behind by one. GW then climbed back 3-2, but they would not hold on to the lead as a series of power play goals would lead Richmond to a 6-4 win.
