Background:

Professor Fujii specializes in political conflict and violence. Her research focuses on "neighbor level" violence that occurs during civil and inter-state war. She is the author of Killing Neighbors: Webs of Violence in Rwanda (2009, Cornell University Press). Her work has also appeared in Security Studies, Nationalities Papers, and the Journal of Genocide Research. Her work has been supported by funding from Fulbright, the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, and a Dilthey Faculty Fellowship. She is currently working on a second book project which will compare the local dynamics of violence using cases from Rwanda, Bosnia Herzegovina, and the United States.
