Africa and its Diaspora, Latin American culture, the film industries of Latin America and Africa, U.S. foreign policy towards Africa

Background:
Professor Captain is the executive director of Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars: www.phibetadelta.org. In addition to her Ph.D., she holds a Master of International Policy and Practice from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University. Her scholarly points of focus are the regions of Latin America and Africa and how these two regions intersect. Her latest research has involved South-South relations. In addition, she is an amateur genealogist.
