Education
Center for the Study of Language and Education operates The National Clearinghouse for Bilingual
Education (NCBE), which coordinates with a network of projects to address the information
needs of more than 700 school districts, 50 State education agencies, 200 institutions of higher
education, and the public and private sectors involved with the education of linguistically diverse
students. It operates the Computerized Information System, a repository of more than 17,000
documents, an electronic bulletin board, and produces a variety of publications, including a
bimonthly newsletter, information guides for practitioners, and occasional papers, among other
products. NCBE has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Bilingual
Education and Minority Languages Affairs for nearly 20 years. It also serves as a dissemination
arm for EAC East products.
