Mexico's Financial System and the Impact of the Global Recession Mr.
Ignacio Deschamps, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BBVA Bancomer,
Mexico’s largest commercial bank,
was the keynote speaker at this conference focusing on Mexico’s financial
system and the impact of the global recession. Mr. Deschamps
was recently appointed Chairman of the Mexican Banking Association, which
represents
the country’s
system
of 41 commercial banks.
Opening remarks were be made by William C. Handorf, a professor of
finance at GW. Following Mr. Deschamps presentation,
feedback and commentary was provided by Santiago Levy, Vice President
for Sectors and Knowledge at the Inter-American Development Bank.
