Professional Preventive Speakers Series: Nutrition and Counseling in the Context of HIV/AIDS and Title II Food Aid Programming

The third speakers series event on HIV/AIDs and Nutrition hosted by World Vision will take place Thursday, June 18. Speakers plan to share specialized programming and new knowledge in the area of nutrition and counseling in the context of HIV/AIDS.

This USAID Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) grant-funded workshop will focus on three main themes:

1.  Roll-Out of Nutrition Counseling Approach – Presentation and discussion
of  core  nutrition  and  counseling  in the context of HIV/AIDS, including
concepts  and  how  to  successful  operationalize this approach in a field
setting or training.

2.  Small  Group  Case Study and Inter-Active Work – Presentation and small
group  discussion of nutrition counseling approach information to reinforce
principles, concepts and demonstrate understanding.

3.  New Product Knowledge and Use – Presentation and discussion of the role
of   sourcing   of  nontraditional  Title  II  commodities  to  respond  to
nutritional  interventions  targeting beneficiaries vulnerable to or people
living with HIV/AIDS.

By  the end of this workshop, you should be able to understand the need for
nutrition  and  nutrition  counseling  for vulnerable populations including
people  living  with  HIV/AIDs, how to operationalize and design activities
that   link   and   focus   on  HIV/AIDS,  food  and  nutrition  through  a
