Director - Prof. Vahid Motevalli, Ph.D., P.E.,

Dr. Vahid Motevalli is an Associate Professor
in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and Director of the
Aviation Institute. He was selected as a Congressional Fellow by the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served on the U.S. House
of Representatives Committee on Science in 1995 - 1996. In 1997, he
served as an Executive committee member and Safety Track Co-chair of
the White House Conference on "International Aviation Safety and
Security in the 21st Century." Prior to joining The George Washington
University in 1994, he was an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering
at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Motevalli has a Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Maryland and 21 years of research and teaching experience. He has
directed over 25 graduate students and a large number of undergraduate
students in a variety of topic areas. He has published more than 70
technical papers. Dr. Motevalli has established sponsored research and
training programs exceeding $12 million since 1988.
