In addition to Elana Meyers, SPHHS BS '06, a member of the U.S. women's bobsled team, several GW alumni worked behind the scenes to prepare the athletes, organize the venues, and document the Games. GW graduates Todd Dennett, ESIA BA '96, Kristina Salin, GWSB MTA '09 and Ben Solomon, GWSB BBA '08 are among those who helped make the Vancouver Olympics a premier event.
Jeff Blake, GWSB MBA '07, founder of Altavert Alternative Advertising, has joined the Board of Directors of Active Young Professionals, the non-profit networking arm of Life Rolls On Foundation. As the organization's Marketing/PR Officer, Jeff brings to the table the experience of starting his own advertising company after developing his business plan during his MBA studies at GWU.
Laura J. Brown, LAW JD '08, has joined Blank Rome as an associate in the General Litigation group in the firm's Philadelphia office. Prior to joining Blank Rome, Brown served as law clerk for the Chambers of the Honorable Joel Schneider, U.S.M.J. and an interim law clerk for the Chambers of the Honorable Ann Marie Donio, U.S.M.J.
Cynthia Jacobs Carter, GSEHD MA '94, EdD '98, had her recently published book, Freedom in My Heart: Voices from the United States National Slavery Museum nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the category of outstanding non-fiction literary work. Her book, which uses artifacts, images and documents to trace the entire history of slavery in North America, was one of five nominations in the category. The final Image Award selections are voted on by NAACP members. Winners were announced during the live airing of the 41st NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 26 on FOX.
Eric D. Correira, CCAS BA '06, joined the law firm of Correira & Iacono as an associate. He will work with clients in the areas of tax litigation, international taxation, and estate planning. He is admitted to practice law in the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
