At the George Washington University's "Celebration of Service" dinner Oct. 15, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, GWSB MBA '71, presented the inaugural Colin Powell Public Service Award to Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary Tammy Duckworth, ESIA MA '92. Assistant Secretary Duckworth was chosen for this honor for her lifetime of service. (Video | Photos)
In addition, GW President Steven Knapp announced the launch of the Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service that will support public service activities across the University.

J. Cabell Acree, III, LAW LLM '96, is the newest member of Selman, Munson and Lerner. Prior to this, Acree served as the General Counsel to Orion Marine Group Inc.
Ryfie Amkraut, GWSB MBA '04 has just finished her first fiction novel entitled Girl: Classified. Ryfie has worked as a government consultant for nine years and was an active participant on the 2009 MBA Reunion Committee.
Ethan Chazin, GWSB MBA '95, just had his book, Bulletproofing Your Career in Turbulent Times, published. Based on his seminars on career exploration and job searching, the book is about conducting unconventional job searches and career transitions.
Dolores Lavalle Cobo, LAW LLM '94, a member of the GW Argentina Alumni Network, published a book, Derecho de Acceso a la Información Pública (the right of access to public information), which strives to contribute to the strengthening of the right to know of all people.
Lisa Freeman, BBA '02 and Michael Fontanetta, BBA '02 were married on June 20, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA. They met at GW when they were next door neighbors both sophomore and senior year. Several GW classmates were in attendance.
