Anne J. Banks, CCAS MFA '68, is showing new collages, entitled small scale - Large Scale at Gallery 10, an art gallery in D.C.from June 3 – 27. For more information, visit www.gallery10dc.com.
Lori Garver, ESIA MA '89, was appointed Deputy Administrator of NASA on May 26. Previously, she headed the Obama transition team at the space agency.
Dr. Chad Gordon, CCAS BA '97, and a team of other plastic surgeons performed the nation's first face transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio on Connie Culp, a shooting victim. The transplant was performed on December 7, 2008, but was kept secret until recently, when Culp spoke about it at a press conference. Gordon is a fellow in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, which is consistently named by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top medical facilities in the country.
Daniel Ndiki, SEAS MS '08, recently published his book My Mother's House, a fiction-thriller that explores the complex identity of the emerging African elite, and their contrast with their impoverished rural countrymen. Ndiki, a Kenyan immigrant, is pursuing graduate studies at GW while working here full-time.
