GW moved up one spot to No. 53 in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” 2009 rankings. GW shares the No. 53 spot with Syracuse University and University of Maryland-College Park. In specific sub-categories — what U.S. News terms “key indicators” — GW ranked No. 37 in student selectivity, No. 49 in graduation and retention, No. 69 in faculty resources, No. 70 in financial resources, and No. 154 in alumni giving. In a survey of high school guidance counselors conducted by U.S. News GW ranked No. 34 nationally.
The GW School of Business undergraduate program ranked No. 39 nationwide, along with Boston University, Southern Methodist University, and Syracuse University, in the 2009 "America’s Best Colleges." The school is on a steady upward slope rising from 41 in 2008, 42 in 2007, and 47 in 2006. This is the ninth consecutive year the school’s undergraduate business program has ranked among the top 50 out of more than 480 accredited programs.
