Events at Alumni Weekend

From The Kalb Report with Bill O’Reilly to a family barbeque and carnival, the nearly 100 events happening during Alumni Weekend, Sept. 25-28, offer something for everyone.

Prominent entertainers and newsmakers featured during the three-day event include Rainn Wilson from The Office, television news host Bill O’Reilly, actress Kerry Washington, CCAS BA ’98, political strategist Paul Begala, and musician Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul, and Mary.

“It’s a blockbuster weekend unlike any GW has seen before with a variety of events ranging from big-name entertainers to political superstars,” said Andrew Kaufteil, senior director of alumni relations.

CCAS BA '98
Award-winning actress Kerry Washington, CCAS BA ’98, is known best for her roles in the films Ray, The Last King of Scotland, and the Fantastic Four films.

As a presidential performing arts scholar at GW, Washington created an interdisciplinary major called Performance Studies, which allowed her to examine the role that performance plays in different societies and cultures.

Marlene Blas, GWSB MTA ’07, was appointed to Meeting Professionals International Content Advisory Council where she will provide input and industry perspective on management’s projects, advise management on emerging trends and delivery methods within the meetings industry, and work to inform MPI’s content offerings across all platforms.
Rebecca Lee Byrd, CCAS BA ’02, recently accepted a position as deputy counsel to the Governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner. She recently was employed as a deputy attorney general for Delaware.
