Michael Brown, CCAS BA '85Michael Brown, CCAS BA ’85, was named assistant coach by the Chicago Bulls. Brown, a member of the GW Athletic Hall of Fame and a selection to the Colonials All-Century Basketball Team, played 11 seasons on the NBA. Read the Bulls press release here.

Roger Finch, CCAS BA ’68, recently released his third poetry collection. Finch, a professor at Surugadai University in Japan, wrote the poems with inspiration from his travels in Asia and Europe. The collection is titled Stations of the Sun.

Robert M. Greenbaum, GWSB BBA ’84, a partner in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Department in Saul Ewing LLP’s Philadelphia office, has been named president of the Board of Directors for the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project. Since its formation in 1991, CBAP’s mission has been to educate and support volunteer attorneys and law students who assist CBAP clients with their financial problems. He is serving a two-year term that began January 1.

Todd Kingsley, GWSB BBA ’81, was named managing director with Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, the U.S. Private Client Services division of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management. Kingsley joins the firm from Smith Barney Citigroup Global Markets where he worked for more than 24 years.

Ted Koerth, LAW JD '02Ted Koerth, LAW JD ’02, recently joined the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg as an associate. He concentrates his practice in business litigation, including the defense and prosecution of claims of breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, defamation, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and conversion.

Jane C. Loeffler, CCAS PhD ’96, an associate professor at the University of Maryland, recently testified before the House Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs on safeguarding U.S. embassies. She is the author of The Architecture of American Diplomacy and Fortress America, and a widely-recognized expert on the history and cultural impact of U.S. embassy design and construction.

Stephen T. McClellan, GWSB MBA '71Stephen T. McClellan, GWSB MBA ’71, recently released his second book Full of Bull: Do What Wall Street Does, Not What it Says, To Make Money in the Market. His first book, The Coming Computer Industry Shakeout, was published in 1984. After a 32-year career on Wall Street, he retired from Merrill Lynch in 2003. Mark Norman, ESIA BA '77Mark Norman, ESIA BA ’77, was included on the 2008 Ohio Super Lawyers list. Norman, who practices environmental law, works with the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP.

Jessica Rhiannon Roessel, CCAS BA ’02, an associate at Swartz Campbell in Philadelphia, and Matthew Karczewski, wellness manager for Princeton University, are proud to announce the birth of a baby girl, Lila Seren Roessel-Karczewski. She was born on November 19 in Hamilton, N.J., and weighed 7 lb., 2 oz.

Phyllis Silver, CCAS BA ’69, was honored with The Family Planning Advocates of New York’s Shirley Gordon Public Policy Leadership Award, which recognizes leadership in shaping public policy. Silver is deputy director of Public Health at the New York State Health Department.

Peter R. Silverman, CCAS BA '77Peter R. Silverman, CCAS BA ’77, has been recognized as a leader in alternative dispute resolution law by being selected as an author in the recently released book, Mediation and Arbitration Best Practices, published by Aspatore Books. Silverman belongs to the Ohio firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP.

Chriselle Diane Tidrick, CCAS BA '94Chriselle Diane Tidrick, CCAS BA ’94, recently founded her own dance company, Above and Beyond Dance. Her company will present its inaugural season February 29 - March 2 at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, on the Long Island University Brooklyn Campus in downtown Brooklyn. Ian Waitz, SEAS MS ’88, has been named the next head of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Waitz is the Jerome C. Hunsaker Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. His position is effective Feb. 16.

IN MEMORIAM

Louis E. Madison, CCAS BA ’38, who wrote and published 10 editions of the guidebook, San Francisco on a Shoestring, died January 10 in San Francisco after experiencing kidney failure. Madison, who was 93 at the time of his death, focused his book on informing people of affordable hotels, restaurants, and other city attractions. Prior to writing the book, Madison worked as an economist at the U.S. Department of Labor before becoming a decorated secret-intelligence officer in World War II. Margaret (Truman) Daniel, CCAS BA ’46, HonD ’75, the only child of former President Harry S. Truman, died Jan. 29 in Chicago following a brief illness. Margaret attended GW while her father was in the White House. After graduation she pursued a singing career, worked in broadcasting, and later became a successful writer.
