THOUSANDS ATTEND INAUGURATION ACTIVITIES FOR PRESIDENT STEVEN KNAPP

President Knapp inducted into the GWAA

A flurry of activity surrounded GW in the days leading up to the Inauguration of Dr. Steven Knapp as the 16th President of The George Washington University. The Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses hosted six days worth of programming that drew approximately 5,000 attendees, including several hundred alumni. Activities on Thursday, Nov. 15, GW: A Lifelong and Worldwide Community Day, were specifically geared toward alumni.

Skip Gnehm, BA '66, MA '68Edward “Skip” Gnehm, BA ’66, MA ’68, wasn’t aiming for GW’s acting president when he launched a water balloon off the roof of his fraternity house; it just happened to land on him.

“As any student would do on a nice spring day, I got involved in a massive water balloon fight,” said Gnehm, the former U.S. ambassador to Kuwait, Australia, and Jordan, and currently GW’s Kuwait Professor of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Affairs. Read more.

Morris Brown, BA '51Morris Brown, BA ’51, of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer is listed in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. He was selected under the specialty of Personal Injury Litigation.
Margaret Vodopia Carroll, BA ’82, announced the sale of her second romantic comedy, The True Match, by Avalon Books in April 2008. She has just signed a two-book contract with HarperCollins for worldwide English distribution of her next novel, a psychological thriller called A Dark Love. Set partly on GW's Foggy Bottom campus, it is due out in 2009.
