2007 COLONIALS ATHLETICS CLUB GOLF TOURNAMENT
Colonials Athletics hosts its 9th annual golf tournament at Stonewall Golf Club, rated 4.5 stars and one of the best places to play by Golf Digest in 2007. The day includes lunch, a day of golf, dinner, an auction, and trophies and prizes.

NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY TOUR – SOLD OUT!
A waitlist has been set up for the sold-out National Portrait Gallery Tour on September 18. GW alumni will get a private tour of the National Portrait Gallery led by curator and GW professor Frank Goodyear. Following the tour, a reception is planned at Poste Moderne Brasserie.

Goodyear is the assistant curator of photographs at the National Portrait Gallery. He is currently developing an exhibition on portraits of contemporary Hip Hop musicians by photographer David Scheinbaum. Goodyear is also an affiliated faculty member in the Department of American Studies at GW, teaching graduate classes in American Visual Studies and the History of Photography. He did his undergraduate work at Princeton University and received his Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Texas. Goodyear will lead the tour of the Portrait Gallery focusing on the highlights of the museum.

The cost of this program is $15 and includes the private tour and reception.

HOW DO I BECOME A PRIVATE SPACE EXPLORER? WITH ANOUSHEH ANSARI
Anousheh Ansari, SEAS MS ’92, will speak about her life and career as an engineer and business woman, and how that led to an eight-day expedition to the International Space Station as a private space explorer.

On earth, Ansari is a successful serial entrepreneur and co-founder and chairman of Prodea Systems, a company designed to address consumer challenges in today’s digital home.

GW HONORS RICHARD SCOTT WITH THE INAUGURAL AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ENTREPRENEURIAL ACHIEVEMENT
The GW Community will gather on October 24th to Honor Richard L. Scott, Founder, Columbia Hospital Corporation, and President and CEO of Richard L. Scott Investments with the inaugural Award for Distinguished Entrepreneurial Achievement. Mr. Scott founded Columbia Hospital Corporation (later renamed HCA, Inc.) in 1987 and began a decade-long effort to build an integrated health system designed to meet the needs of the healthcare consumer. When he left his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1997, Columbia/HCA had become the world's largest healthcare company with more than 340 hospitals, 130 surgery centers and 550 home health locations in 38 states and three foreign countries. Since 1997, Mr. Scott has been Chief Executive Officer of Richard L. Scott Investments, LLC, focusing on public and private investments in strong cash flow generating companies.

The celebration will also include an address from President Steven Knapp on his vision of entrepreneurship and research at GW, an address from Mr. Scott, and two panels of GW Entrepreneurs sharing their experiences.

Hebert received her BA in political science from American University in 1999 and her MA in media and public affairs from The George Washington University in 2004. She currently serves as a vice president with Hart Research, conducting qualitative and quantitative research projects for nonprofit organizations, corporations, political candidates, media organizations, and educational institutions. Hebert will be joined by her husband, Mike Ward, Legislative Director to U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-MI).
