ALUMNI REUNION WEEKEND 2007!!


Get back to GW for Alumni Reunion Weekend, September 28-30, 2007!

Alumni Reunion Weekend is open to all alumni. We have some great activities in store, including these highlights:

Alumni Kick-off Party: Connect with fellow alumni at this Latin-themed crowd-pleaser with music, food, and drinks. Enjoy sangrias while you mix and mingle with friends to the salsa and merengue beats of The Latin Soul Band!

John McLaughlin Concert: Enjoy listening to this renowned acoustic jazz guitarist whose career highlights include work with Miles Davis, the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti.

Brunch with President Knapp: Meet the University President Steven Knapp, enjoy a delicious fall brunch, and listen to the beats of a live Malagasy band.

Alumni Achievement Awards Brunch: Join President Steven Knapp and The George Washington Alumni Association Board of Directors at a brunch honoring the 2007 Distinguished and Recent Alumni Achievement Award recipients.

“Breach”: Join alumnus Eric O’Neill, J.D. ’03, for a screening of this 2007 blockbuster based on O’Neill’s career as an FBI operative.

Class Parties for the classes of 2002, 1997, 1982, 1977, 1967, and Alumni Emeriti (classes of 1957 and earlier): Reminisce with your classmates and enjoy food, cocktails, and music recalling your time at GW.

Yankees vs. Orioles Game and Tailgate: Enjoy a special tailgate event with food, drink, and special guests. Then witness a historic match-up between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles!

How Do I Become a Private Space Explorer: Anousheh Ansari, M.S. ’92: Anousheh Ansari, entrepreneur and private space explorer, will speak about her life, career as an engineer and businesswoman, and how all of that led her to a ride on the Russia Soyuz Capsule for an eight-day expedition to the International Space Station.

AEPi Reunion Events: AEPi members can also enjoy a private reunion party, an “old meets new” brunch, a casual morning walk, and a lecture.

Alternate Reality Games Demo Presentation: John Maccabbee, writer, producer, award-winning game designer, and GW parent will be presenting a new alternate reality game (ARG). ARG’s are interactive narratives that use the real world as a platform, often involving multiple media and game elements to tell stories.

  • “Classes without Quizzes” on sustainable gardening, immigrants and Washington, crime in the news, genomics, and more!

  • Admissions Information Session

  • “Then and Now” Tours: See the changes that have taken place on campus since you were a student.

  • Back to Thurston: Dormitory Reception and Tour: Take a trip down memory lane as you enjoy a reception in the famous first-year dorm.

  • Other events hosted by College Democrats, College Republicans, GW Black Alumni Association, GW LGBT Alumni Association, Phi Sigma Kappa, and many other campus groups, schools and organizations.
