These tickets are normally $98, but we have secured a fantastic deal for alumni! This is a great price for this location; if you like basketball, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. A group of tickets has been reserved specifically for Public Health alumni, and an additional group has been reserved for all alumni; please indicate your school of graduation when you register for this event.

Tickets will be distributed at the pre-game happy hour at Gordon Biersch and we will gather in the bar area. Any remaining tickets will be available at Will Call at 6:45 p.m. It is a cash bar.

Join us for the latest installment of Politics and Port, featuring Dr. Christopher Arterton, dean of the Graduate School of Political Management. Politics and Port is a unique opportunity to exchange political views with other alumni in an intimate setting.

Before joining the GSPM as its founding dean in 1987, Dr. Arterton was a professor at Yale University for ten years, teaching in both the Political Science Department and the School of Organization and Management. Dr. Arterton is a graduate of Trinity College He holds an MA in International Relations from the American University and received his Ph.D. in Political Science from M.I.T. in 1974.

Dr. Arterton’s research, his 20 years of teaching, and his considerable experience as a consultant on American public opinion make him an expert on the strategic environment of American political leaders. Additionally, Dr. Arterton is a well-known commentator and moderates a series of panel discussions on political issues, which are frequently televised by the C-SPAN cable network. From 1979 to 1990, he was a consultant to Newsweek magazine on polling and campaign coverage, and in 1986 and 1987 he consulted for the Gallup Organization on opinion surveys. He is currently researching a book blending political leadership and political strategy.

GW will provide port wine and light refreshments. This event is free, but please register so that we can get a headcount.

MBA ALUMNI GLOBAL MARKETING AT STARBUCKS – LECTURE AND RECEPTION WITH GERRY LOPEZ, BBA ’80
MBA Alumni and students are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 11 for an evening with Gerry Lopez, BBA ’80. Lopez is the senior vice president and president, Global Consumer Products at Starbucks. In this role, Lopez leads the strategy to support Starbucks growth and expansion of consumer product offerings worldwide. Lopez reports to Jim Donald, president and CEO, Starbucks Coffee Company.

Join us for an “Evening with our Alumni.”

The GW Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management would like to invite graduates of the Master of Tourism Administration (AMTA or MTA) program to attend an “Evening with our Alumni” spring event. This year we will focus on building connections between alumni and current students. This event will give current MTA students and MTA alumni a chance to meet, network and have fun! The evening will begin with a small reception followed by dinner. Alumni are asked to identify their area of industry expertise. Students will then be seated with alumni based on their areas of interest. This should be a fun way to reconnect with fellow students, meet new ones, and enjoy an evening with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

HOW DO I BECOME A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE?
Come hear Joseph Baca, retired Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court, and one of Hispanic Business magazine’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics,” discuss his years on the bench. Baca, who received his JD in 1964 from GW, is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree and the J. William Fulbright Award for Distinguished Public Service from GW’s Law School.

HOW DO I BECOME A SPECIAL EFFECTS GURU?
Join Bill Westenhofer, visual effects supervisor and Academy Award nominee, as he discusses what it’s like to work in the computer design field and film industry. His work on Chronicles of Narnia was nominated for an Academy Award for Achievement in Visual Effects. He received his Masters Degree in Computer Science from GW in 1995.
