Amy Alder, MA ’05, has been named the new executive director for the Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce in Michigan. Previously, she worked in event coordination and promotions, assuming various leadership roles.
Amy is excited by Oxford’s robust growth, from the renovation of historic buildings to new construction, according to the Oxford Leader, which ran a profile of Amy in February. Amy, who received a master’s degree in tourism and event management from GW two years ago, grew up in Oxford and is delighted to be working in the community.
Daniel J. Kaniewski, BS ’00, was recently appointed by President Bush as special assistant to the president for Homeland Security and senior director for Response Policy. Kaniewski previously served as director, Response and Recovery Policy on the Homeland Security Council staff at the White House.
Sloane Levy, JD ’89, has been named senior vice president and general counsel of Norwalk-based Webloyalty, a leading provider of technology-based, online marketing services. Levy will serve as a member of the company’s leadership team and be responsible for the in-house legal and compliance department.
Louis Libby, MD ’77, is the recipient of The American Thoracic Society’s national 2007 Outstanding Clinician Award (OCA). Libby is the Executive Vice President of The Oregon Clinic, located in Northeast Portland.
Clifford J. Shapiro, JD ’82, has been named a partner
of the law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP in its Chicago office.
He will also serve as co-chair of the firm’s Construction Law Practice
Group, concentrating his practice on construction law and litigation,
insurance coverage litigation, and other complex commercial litigation.
Ranked among the top construction attorneys by Chambers USA, Shapiro
represents owners, contractors, and subcontractors in construction
defect, delay, and indoor air quality/mold claims.
