Experience sights, sounds, and stories from each of the seven continents! Take a journey around the world at GW’s Mount Vernon Campus annual summer film series, Films on The Vern. Bring a blanket and snacks to enjoy a FREE outdoor movie on the Mount Vernon Campus Quad (rain location: Eckles Library Auditorium). Everyone is welcome! Imagine a country where the president never reads the newspaper, where the government goes to war for all the wrong reasons, and where more people vote for a pop idol than their next president. This is the story of that country.

Complimentary parking is available in the Mount Vernon Campus Garage upon entering from Whitehaven Parkway.

In addition, the Vern Express, a free shuttle service connecting the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon Campuses, departs from each campus every 30 minutes until 11:15 p.m. Departures from the Foggy Bottom Campus are at the top of the hour and 30 minutes past the hour from 23rd and H Streets (Fulbright Hall). Departures from the Mount Vernon Campus are at 15 minutes and 45 minutes past the hour.

PLAN TO ATTEND: MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SOCCER ALUMNI REUNION
All soccer alumni are invited to return to GW for a reunion, hosted September 15-17, in tandem with a men’s soccer game with George Mason (Saturday, Sept. 16, 1 p.m.) and a women’s soccer game with Vermont (Sunday, Sept. 17, noon)

George Lidster is in his 19th season as men’s coach while Tanya Vogel, BS ’96, MS ’99, is in her seventh season as women’s coach. Additionally, Vermont’s head coach, Kerry Dziczkaniec, BS ’93, is a former Colonials goalkeeper.

A complete schedule of activities, including an alumni game for both men and women following the men’s game on Saturday afternoon, is in the process of being finalized. ATTENTION: GW VOLLEYBALL ALUMNAE – PLAN TO ATTEND ALUMNAE WEEKEND
This fall GW Athletics and the Colonials’ head volleyball coach Jojit Coronel have special plans for the annual GW Volleyball Alumnae Weekend. In addition to welcoming back ALL volleyball alumnae for the weekend, held Sept. 22-24, the weekend will highlight five teams – from the years 2000, 1995, 1994, 1993, and 1978 – that have competed in postseason NCAA and AIAW championship tournaments since the varsity program began in 1975.

Each member of those five teams will receive a commemorative t-shirt at a special luncheon honoring ALL varsity volleyball alumnae and friends. Mark your calendars now and make plans with your teammates to attend.

PRIVATE TOUR OF THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM EXHIBIT WITH GW ALUMNAE
Please join fellow alumnae Barbara Stauffer, Judy Mannes, Siobhan Starrs, and Carolyn Margolis as we explore our changing environment. Enjoy a private tour of the two exhibits coordinated by Stauffer, Mannes, Starrs, and Margolis called “Atmosphere: Change is in the Air", and "Arctic: A Friend Acting Strangely.”

Please use the Constitution Avenue entrance of the museum. After the tour, we will walk over to the Elephant and Castle Pub for some light appetizers and drinks. The pub is approximatedly four blocks from the museum. We will walk to the pub, but feel free to arrange other transportation as necessary. The cost for this event is $10. Space is limited, so register now!

FOURTH ANNUAL FORGGY BOTTOM & WEST END NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY
Approximately 1,500 people attend this free annual event that includes booths from local businesses, restaurants, groups, and institutions. The event is brought to you by FRIENDS, a community group started at the request of local neighbors to promote positive dialogue between GW and its neighbors.
